My phone says "Searching for Service" how can I fix it?

My (verizon) phone has had no service for about a week, I have tried taking the battery out, turning it off and on, calling *228, and resetting it, but nothing has worked. It is fully charged, but it still says "searching for service". I can't send or receive anything. Does anyone know how to fix this??
