Steam games question. Please help me its simple.?

Ok so I bought left 4 dead pack 1 and 2 on my laptop, but I didnt like find out if to play this games ill always need to be connected to internet, like to play single player. So can I play steam games without internet? The games are fully downloaded and I've Played them a couple of times. Well just left 4 dead 1
